ENCINO, Calif., Feb 06, 2012 (BUSINESS WIRE) —
Cyber-Rain (
www.cyber-rain.com ),
makers of leading edge easy-to-use Internet-based smart irrigation
control systems that reduce landscape water usage by 30-70%, today
announced that it has teamed up with the U.S. Environmental Protection
Agency’s (EPA’s) WaterSense program (
http://www.epa.gov/watersense/ )
to offer consumers water-efficient product choices. Products that
earn the WaterSense label must meet or exceed EPA’s criteria to use
water more efficiently while performing as well as or better than
conventional models that use more water. The goal of WaterSense is to
decrease consumers’ indoor and outdoor water use by promoting
high-efficiency products and simple water-saving practices.

“The WaterSense label helps consumers identify high-performing,
water-efficient products,” said Sheila Frace, director of the EPA Office
of Water’s Municipal Support Division. “By purchasing WaterSense-labeled
plumbing fixtures, consumers can help protect the water supply and their
wallets.” The EPA notes that the average home, retrofitted with
water-efficient fixtures, can save 30,000 gallons per year. If one out
of every 10 homes in the United States upgraded to water-efficient
fixtures, it could save more than 300 billion gallons and nearly $2
billion annually.

Cyber-Rain central irrigation control systems automatically adjust
watering schedules based on local weather information. Unlike many other
weather based irrigation controllers, Cyber-Rain does not charge a
monthly fee for weather feeds, which helps managers of properties
dramatically reduce operational costs. Among the features offered in the
latest version of the XCI Cloud product are the addition of odd-even
water scheduling, full integration with Blackberry and Android mobile
devices alongside its existing iPhone functionality, and GPS site and
controller location information.

CEO James Krug said, “Cyber-Rain is proud to be part of this program,
which is an outstanding public/private sector initiative to reduce water
usage while maintaining high performance. Our mission has always been to
promote the preservation of natural resources while delivering the best
possible user experience. We are committed to the WaterSense program and
our team of engineers will continue to innovate and build the best
irrigation control systems on the market.”
